Transitioning projects to telephone interviewing (CATI) with SurveyCTO

As the impact of COVID-19 grows, we here at Dobility are committed to making sure that SurveyCTO users can adapt from in-person data collection to alternative methods, such as computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI), and still deliver on their projects. In service of this commitment, we’re pleased to offer a CATI starter kit that demonstrates how SurveyCTO can support your CATI needs and facilitate transitions from in-person data collection. Read on to learn more, and refer to our Support Center article for more guidance.

What does the CATI starter kit include?  

The starter kit presents a sample data collection workflow that uses SurveyCTO’s case management functionality and includes a full form design and cases dataset. In the sample workflow, cases are assigned to enumerators for telephone surveying with accompanying phone numbers, and enumerators are able to capture callback times selected by respondents and set callback times if the respondents don’t answer. The starter kit also includes a phone dialer plug-in which can automatically populate an Android device’s phone dialer application with a phone number stored in a form (read the section below for more information).

The starter kit also offers guidance on how to set up automatically generated calendar events to organize your work via Zapier, as well as how to configure dashboards in Google Sheets to track the progress of your phone survey.

Are there other resources?

We also released a software update that considerably expands platform flexibility and options for securely sharing data. This includes the freedom to use field plug-ins that can fully control the appearance and functionality of questions in survey forms, including a dialer plug-in to support telephone surveying, as well as the ability to securely and conveniently share real-time data with anyone, anywhere. After the update, we’ll continue to build upon these functionalities to create more resources that meet evolving needs.
